District Committee of General Purposes
The District Committee of General Purposes is the District’s governing body for all Chapters within the District. It oversees all aspects of governance, as well as sets the timetable for the year’s events, and decides on the District’s social outreach programs.
The Committee comprises of 15 members, who are all subscribing Masons. Of these
- six are ex-officio, holding senior offices in the District;
- three are elected by Principals (Ruling as well as Past) throughout the District, having been proposed for election by their respective Chapters; and
All members are committed to work towards the betterment of the District, in line with the District’s Mission, Vision and Values statement.
The Committee holds four regular meetings in a year, one in each quarter. Additional meetings, physical or online, are also held should the need arise.
The Committee formulates administrative policies and procedures, which are aligned with Grand Chapter’s recommendations and directives. These are put to vote for adoption at the District’s Annual Convocation. They include
- Preparation of Annual Budget
- Quarterly review of District finances and accounts
- Investments
- District’s outreach program
- Annual subscription of members
- Review of office staff salaries
- Review of Annual and Installation Returns
- Review and updation of District By-laws
- Review of Chapter-wise membership data
- Date and venue of Annual Convocation and other District programs
The Committee members may form subcommittees, each overseeing a particular assignment, and report their progress at the next Committee meeting.
